After all those years of drought, I'm not complaining about the rain. I love it. With the big storms that we have been getting, I am surprised at how well the Transit Connect van drives and handles. I haven't been blown around by the high winds. The wipers have kept up with the wind and water. No hydroplane, skidding, slipping, or sliding. In the past, I always drove a Jeep or pickup truck in bad weather, because the little cars just didn't handle or drive well on wet roads, with high wind. I still have my F150, lift kit, 4.10 gears, & 35" tires, and I'm not ready to give it up. But that little van has impressed me, even with the stock tires which other people have complained about.
There is a reason why Ford Transit Connect cost about half what a Toyota Sienna sells for. It's a commercial vehicle. Really rough around the edges. Toyota Sienna & Honda Odyssey are like luxury cars in comparison. Rough ride. Road noise. Seating and interior suitable for transporting inmates. Really loud fan for the climate control system. Heavy sliding doors and liftgate are manual. Heavy, manual folding seats. 4 cylinder front wheel drive isn't winning any drag races. Rear coil springs are good for cargo load, but not so comfortable for your passengers. Transit Connect does drive like a car, since it's based on a Ford Focus. Really good turn radius for such a long car, which makes parking easy, compared to a truck. Somehow the engineers got the seat height perfect for seniors to step in & out of the van; without falling in & climbing out like most cars, or having to climb up high & fall out like a truck. Just the perfect amount of space between the 3rd row seats & liftgate for a folding wheelchair. Those 3 seats in the middle row are actually full size in width. Plenty of head room & leg room. And since it is a commercial vehicle, you get a full size spare tire.
hey guys , man what a great day , nice T shirt weather , things are about to change though , Mo Rain has deceided to come back, that’s Ok , pasture is green , Orchard is growing and I think I Mowed the front yard Three Times this week , I did manage to fix my passengers front window , thinking it was the switch , ended up being a broke wire in the door boot, and the rear window ( well ) that’s the Motor , I’ll fix that later .other than that , I have checked off three more things off the Honey do list, ( BUT) four more items got added on the never ending scroll , Accually 7 , I need to Mow the Yard Three more times
The middle seat in the 2nd row is actually a full size seat. It's about as functional as the 3 passenger bench seat in my truck. After riding in other cars with "3 passenger" seating arrangements, like the backseat of most cars, and the rear rows of other SUV and minivans; I found this middle seat to be the widest, with the most leg room & head room. Unfortunately, it is a commercial vehicle, so you get the less than stellar insulation, a less than luxurious interior, and a less than desirable entertainment system. But for anyone asking me for a ride, it's better than taking the bus.
Rain just passed through SFO not too long ago. Channel 2 KTVU weather guesser says that it may be heading South & East. Are you wet, GlueGuy?
