Happy Monday all.
We had an apricot tree in our front yard when I was growing up. Produced fruit every year. Bugs, and birds got about half of them, but by the time we were done, we didn't want to eat another apricot until the following year.
Jim
same here Jim , that tree has been a burr under my saddle , when I disc the branches are low , I usually loose a hat or two, then it’s in my path to the pool equipment, when it did produce and fruit dropped , I had to walk through it , not as bad as the Plum , I always forget when I’m out weed eating , until plum skin and juice is everywhere , if somebody were to drive by and see what I look like after that tree , they’d think it was a murder ,
5150 , no commercial , organic farmer who bought this place 18 years ago , I inherited a old orchard and slowly planted other variety’s of citrus and fruit trees , there’s four old trees left to dig up and the Apracot is 1 of them , the freestone peach won’t die , it’s the oldest of them all but still produces great peaches , only two branches left and the way it’s bloomed out this year it will be a good year , if it don’t brake in two , I might need to duct tape it so it don’t split in two, lol, 16 out of 20 left , gophers got two young planted and the frost got two , it will be a bumper crop with the Amond
I have a dwarf apricot or something in my backyard. There were about 20 apricots in various stages of development when I picked the only one that was ripe. The next day I noticed all the rest were gone.
50% chance of rain yesterday, and a 20% chance today according to the weather guessers, but it is not raining at the moment, nor did it rain here yesterday, however, we go lucky and the rain clouds bypassed us pretty much and hit the surrounding cities.
The dark clouds are coming in and setting up to drench us again.
Highway patrol units & CalTrans trucks closed off a couple of freeway lanes. They were providing "cover" with their lights flashing, for a Roto-Rooter van. Freeway storm drain was so clogged that they needed a pro to clear it. Roto-Rooter guy did exactly what he does when you call him. Stick an inspection camera down the line, to confirm what you already knew: "it's clogged". This was at the junction of North-Bound US 101 & East-Bound Interstate 80 to The Bay Bridge. If you know the area, it's where the UPS building is. You guys would be surprised by what kind of garbage ends up on the freeway, and finds it's way to the drain.
As most of you can imagine; the rooter guy starts off with a drain auger, commonly known as a "snake". That never works, so he upgrades to a bigger snake. Then it escalates to the hydrojet, starting with a small hose & less pressure, moving his way up to larger hoses with more pressure. Hours go by. Traffic is at a standstill. This is costing taxpayers $$$XXXXX. Almost seems like a scam. Probably would have been less cost in time, dollars, and manpower, not to mention it would not have killed freeway traffic for the day, if a plumber replaced sections of clogged pipe from under the freeway. These are just drain pipes so that water on the elevated freeway have a path to run down to the surface level catch basins.
Not sure where the rain went. It's semi-clear here. Wundermap shows that points north (like the city) might be getting dumped on. Wonder if it's going to miss us down here?
