You should have a center bolt with a washer that holds it on there. When you tighten that, the washer will push it back till it's flush with the front of the crankshaft. Put the large washer on the bolt, and then put some rtv on the washer to seal off the end of the crank. You can get oil going by the keyway if you don't and it will leak oil.
Ok, so just put some rtv on the washer? I don’t need to remove the balancer and put some on the key way
Ya I would just pull the balance back and just put a smear on the bore of the balancer and in the key then bolt it back in. I'm not fan of smearing silicone on the washer as you have to also do it under the bolt head. And there are no guarantees it will seal. And it is kinda a hack way to do it.

The rtv will ooze in around the bolt head and the end of the crankshaft. If you look closely you will see the factory had some sort of sealer there also.

The factory uses sealant on the inside of the balancer, when the balancer is drawn on it is forced out the end and ends up around the bolt/washer. The factory procedure is to use RTV inside the balancer this makes sure it does not end up in the sump.
