hoping to get some links and information on a lift/leveling kit. Right now my truck has 3-4 extra leafs in the front that level the truck but the ride is horrendous. I want to replace those with 3-4in lift leafs.
id like as good a ride as possible using leaf springs. I’m not sure if they make different springs for different ride styles. My rear springs are really stiff as well but I assume that is for towing. Maybe those could get replaced with variable leafs? I also have the Dana60 swap. So I think the truck is basically a f350 up front. Not 100% sure. Maybe you guys could tell me.
I second the above, if you are running a winch or aftermarket bumper combo up front go with x codes, otherwise go with V code springs for a SD. Replacing the rears for a softer spring and running bags makes a tremendous difference as well.
keep it simple up front with vs and a 2.5” RSK.... will likely put you close to where you are at if not a little over unless you are rearched.
if you want to really make it a slick rig do a coil or coil over conversion front end, and full air on the rear.
I just want a better ride for as cheap as possible. Looks like I can the reverse shakle kit and some SD springs for about $500. That should do the trick hu? It’ll be better on three levels than what I have now
1. Gets rid of 4 extra leafs
2. Reverses the shackle for better ride
3. Longer SD springs for a softer ride as well. Somebody had mentioned longer springs rides sofyer.
The other lock option I was looking at was one of the 3 inch lift kits available. But those don’t solve what I’ve come to find out about the shackle issue and those kids are pushing $1000.
The reverse shackle looks like a real slick set up that does everything I need and I can get some new leaf springs in the meantime.
So so your recommendations for SD springs are the V? I don’t need the X even with the heavy diesel? I definitely wount ever be towing to its copasity. A camping trailer at most. And likely off the bumper hitch. So if I don’t need the X and the ride will better go for the V?
I just have one final question. I see SKY and PMG both sell the RSK. Opinions on which is better? Looks like the SKY kit has some extra hardware. A relocation bracket for the rear of the leaf spring that “angles the shackle slightly backward to begin with (rather than straight up and down). Improving ride a little more”
its also $200 more expensive.
im ordering one of the two kits this week with SD springs. Just hoping for a couple more testimony which one might be better.
