So I bent one push rod and broke the other on the same cylinder.. a bit to high of RPMs shortly after installing a Revolver tuner... Installed new rods and started it up without valve cover all the way installed and runs smooth in the driveway idled up seems smooth have not ran it under load yet. I was planning To do a compression test but now worried about glow plugs coming out? do these engines have a tendency to break or bulge the end of glow plugs?
Far as I know it’s only aftermarket glow plugs that have a tendency to get stuck. I changed my originals at 200,000+ miles and they all came out just fine. Only one way to find out though...
Thanks, yeah im not sure if they are factory or not, bought the truck with 220 on it, just don't want to cause a new issue if compression is ok anyway!
So your saying the tuner should have a rev limiter? im not sure what the rpms got to but was about to shift to 3rd when the tires broke loose and revs spiked..
I have put it back together now and going for a test drive in a bit, if it feels good then ill put off a comp test until I buy new glow plugs and do a comp test on all and replace them at the same time down the road.
My 80 KZ750 bottom end was fine but half the valves bent and lost two guides when I missed second gear at WOT
My 88 toy 4x4 buried the tach on a down shift but ran fine for years
