My question is, is it worth it to me to pull the insulation off my 17 and put it on my 20 when it comes in? LOL
The '20 pad would have to be a little different since the light is now on the right lower part of the hood instead of the left upper as the 17 - 19 models. Wiring would be different, also.

No1Hookman is correct. The 17-19 pad will fit the 2020 hood as the hood shape and fastener locations are the same. But the 17-19 pad has the light cut out in upper driver’s side corner. The 2020 light is now on the lower passenger side. The 2020 light could be relocated to the 17-19 location as the attachment holes are still there in the 2020 hood. One would need to splice in the additional wire. I don’t see any clearance issues with the new intake.
I traded my 2017 fully loaded Lariat F450 in on a new 2020 last week. Same everything except I added the PTO and front fender liner options. (Btw...the fender liner is a full molded plastic liner that overlays the standard felt liner. No dealer that I talked to here in the Dallas, TX area new what it was and no picture on Ford’s site when building one online. Low cost option, so I thought I’d order it and find out for myself. Great option for the trucks that live in the mud and snow as it is more durable and will clean easier.)
Anyways, I’m standing here with a new pad for the 17-19 and a 2020 truck. I’ve decided to return the pad and wait to see if Ford comes up with one in the next six months. If not, I may relocated the light. Noise reduction and the unfinished underside are big motivators for me. In the mean time I’m going to research if any F150’s have a pad that will match. Worth a shot.
I live in PA and I like to be able to spray off the under side of the hood from all the salt and brine they spread on our roads in the winter. Seems like the insulation pad would trap salt and dirt between the pad and the hood.
So I haven’t opened the box for fear of a restocking fee or worse not being able to return it since it was a special order part. I called my parts guy and he confirmed the PN I have is what his parts catalog shows for the 2020MY. He gave permission to open the box and check fitment without any penalty if I can’t use it. I’ll update again this evening after work.
Here's crazy, just ordered (first week of Jan '20) and took delivery (last week of Feb) an F250 Lariat Tremor Version with 6.7L PowerStroke. Mentioned to the Dealer Ordering guy when I received the truck that it was missing the hood insulation. I mentioned from various Forums that many of the trucks lately are coming with and without the hood insulation with little rhyme or reason. He said he'd look into it. When he got back to me, he didn't have much of a reason after talking with the factory, saying only that "adding" a hood liner might affect the Warranty if an engine issue arose (like the engine got too hot). Though I find this to be a stretch (install a Ford Part the vehicle should come with), even when the hood has the tabs for installing the liner, just sounds like Ford is being "on-the-cheap" here.
I think adding the hood liner for noise reduction is a good idea, and considering the turbo for the 6.7L PowerStroke sits atop the engine, seems to me there's a lot of heat being generated that might compromise the hood paint over time?
All - it's strictly for SOUND DEADENING. Typically first model year Ford vehicles have lots of sound deadening to appeal to new customers and the magazine testers, "Oh how quiet this truck is", then Ford slowly removes sound deadening all around the vehicle for cost savings. It's based off the GVW and how high a luxury package you have. i.e.: an F550 is a work truck, but an F250 is a former F150 guy that hauls his family around too. With Volkswagen, the TDI diesels get extra sound deadening material, and in more places.
thank you for that, saved me from getting wrong one. ford have 2020 part number yet?
Nope. That’s the number they currently show for the 2020. And it’s wrong.
I’m going to wait and see if they come out with an updated part. Kind of a bummer though. I would rather get it on there now before the underside of the hood starts getting dirty. I’m not sure how easily the primer like finish will clean.
Has it ever even been established that ANY 2020 model, whether it be Limited, Platinum, Ultimate, or media pundit demonstration truck... has had OEM hood insulation?
I can't recall reading or seeing a single instance where a 2020 owner reported having the insulation. So this 2020 part number that folks are waiting for... does it even exist?
What about splicing-in a SECOND hood light mounting it in the 2017-2019 position (if the circuit can support it) and crafting clearance in the blanket for the 2020 light ?? ...for a total of two lights...

No 2020’s have them. I first noticed it at the state fair. No pads then and no pads now.
The second light is not a bad idea. One could always use a little extra light. My hesitation with trimming has to do with how the edges of the pad are bound. The pad would fray unless one figured out another way glue/seal the cut edge.
HELP - Need2020 super Duty Part # for hood insulation pad
I need a part number for the hood insulation. The pad my dealer sold me has utility light on drivers side..2020's have the light on the passenger side. I would like the correct pad, my dealer says he only shows this part number HC3Z16738 A which is '17-'19 I believe.
Thank you
