Coming down steady here with very little wind. Looks like we'll get a good soaking; a little over 1/2" at this point. Heard rumors of a pineapple express on Wednesday.
I just got in from driving up & down The Peninsula on I-280 & US-101. Rollovers. Spinouts. Vehicle vs vehicle. Vehicle vs guard rails. Flooded roadways. People driving way too fast for road conditions and visibility. And you still have drivers who do not know to turn on their lights when they activate their windshield wipers.
By the way, speaking of wipers.......The Sears wipers on the van have been great. The pickup truck is currently outfitted with AC Delco. I don't care what people think of putting Chevy parts on a Ford. The Chevy wiper blades were 1/3 the price of the Ford MotorCraft. And they work every bit as well, if not better.
We ended up with about 1.5" of liquid in the hopper yesterday. A little less than 2/10" so far this morning. I hear the main event will be this evening. If the house is still standing, I'm guessing we'll get between 2 and 3 inches.
Got about 16" snow when I hit the rack last night. Woke up this morning with a sloppy wet mess. Must've rained last night. Supposed to get cold again with lots more today and especially tomorrow so that should help rebuild the snowpack, I hope.
Costco now has Michelin windshield wipers. They work a heck of a lot better than the Goodyear wipers they used to carry. Still affordable but much better. I recommend them.
Since I like to have my hands free, umbrellas are out. I never use them. Plus, with the wind, umbrellas tend to fail. Rain just blows in from the sides, and your clothes get soaked anyway.
It's raining pretty hard right now in Sacramento county. I use umbrellas but usually have my motorcycle adventure jacket, waterproof Redwing high boots and a booney cap on.
I have a low occurrence of umbrellas flipping over on me, I have the angle technique down, yea even when it's coming at a 45 degree angle. Experience from living in the windy city,
I grew up with natural textile. Waterproof and windproof jacket or coat was leather. Wool shirts and sweaters. Base layers of cotton, wool, or silk. Wool socks. Wool hats and leather gloves. Goose down mid layer.
I still wear Pendleton shirts.
Polyester was only for Disco.
Today's synthetic is good. Better than what was around back in the black and white television era. Goretex. Thinsulate. Microfleece. Soft shell. Nylon. And that weird paper used by Frog Toggs.
I just use a Columbia rain coat. Wind blows "uphill" here and BIG, so umbrellas would be in Nevada in about 2 minutes.
We had wind of 81 MPH according to our weather station yesterday, plus right at 3.1" of rain. I guess you could call it "excitin", and we're glad the house is still attached to the ground.

Nighteyez,
That I do, the dealer offered me very little for my 93K miles 2012 6.7, sold private party and got 60% more then the dealer offered, sold that trailer since I'm upgrading to larger to go with the dually. I collected a nice down for the 2019 so the payments will be very small compared to the last 60 months on the '12. I know which dealers to avoid, really sad that Folsom Lake Ford dropped the ball when trying to order my truck. Internet manager told me there is a $1000 non refundable deposit, what a mistake on his part.
