Despite the knowledge that front wheel drive is better for handling in rain & snow, I still feel safer in my rear wheel drive truck. Maybe it's just being in a larger, heavier vehicle, with a solid steel frame.
Both would be nice. I remember VW Beetles would do well in snow because they had a lot of their weight on the rear wheels. I've also felt pretty sure-footed driving front-wheel-drive vehicles like Hondas. So anything that gets good weight in the drive wheels, however you want to do it. In Minnesota, I always carried a couple of sandbags behind the wheel wells in the box of the pickup.
Rained off and on all day here. Finally got the scooter lift installed in the Sienna, now just need to get a bracket put on the scooter so the hoist can lift it. That will happen tomorrow as it took 4 hours instead of two, in order to get it installed, and I had to leave to pick up grand daughter.
How does that work when you order a car? Did you have to pay their asking price, aka sticker price? Did you have to put a down payment, and start making monthly payments? I'm ignorant. I've never "ordered" a car. I go to the dealership, pick out a car, then negotiate.
I basically go to the Ford.com website, pick the style, trim, packages and upgrades. get the summary and print it out. Head into the dealer and show them the build.
They will do a credit check to make sure you can get credit.
There will be a MSRP/asking price, whatever available rebates/incentives, and whatever other negotiations or deals you make between the dealer and yourself.
As for financing you handle that part when the truck is delivered, before you take possession.
No down-payment, just a deposit which varies dealer to dealer, they are fully refundable if there is a defect or something isn't right on the vehicle. You can't just back out because you changed your mind or you shouldn't.
This was my first "ordered" truck and just because it's very hard to find a SuperCab, LongBed, DRW in Agate Black.

Similar to what we did. I had run through the Ford web site with a few variations on what we wanted. We went through TFSMH (The Ford Store Morgan Hill). They gave a blanket knock-off of MSRP, plus incentives and few other things. I think we got another $1500 off if we would finance through them. We took that deal, and paid it off right away. The $1500 was way more than we paid in interest. I think when it was all said and done, we got around $13,000 off the MSRP. We paid a $500 deposit, and had to wait 8 weeks, but we got exactly what we wanted.

Uh-oh. What happened this time?
Night Watch Commander was in the room with our Captain.
"Your team has been 1 short, since Preacher went down on his bike. A new Supervising Agent is taking his place. She will be the new Sergeant in charge of your squad. She is very excited to work with your squad because you have the highest return rate on investigative hours. You ladies & gentlemen may have seen her last week. Welcome her as your new boss, and help her with whatever she needs to settle in. Brief her on all of your cases, and get her up to speed. Pat, stop cross dressing around the squad room unless you really are working the street corner decoy operation. And you guys better not do that thing, where you windmill your arms for a high 5, then come around for a slap on the butt."
What? Why not?
"In case you Defective Detectives didn't notice, she is wearing a Hijab. She is a Muslim. You can't slap her ***."
The politically correct brass can't take a joke. Our squad consistently turns in the best stats - but that's only because we're not buttoned down & up tight.
