Good morning Oregon and everyone everywhere else. Waiting for #1 son to get here and house sit. Headed for the lake for a few days. Going to take mother on a Waterfall and lake tour on Sunday along with a BBQ.
Here are some pictures of the lantern Charlie. It's a model 220B and date stamped June - 25 - 1929. I'll have to figure out how to restore it. That'll be a winter project.
I have parts for you, and I can give you a pictorial how too.
We have a coleman thread here on this site, just like the "other " site.
you should post those pictures!
I have to warn you, there's a lot of reading in there.
Coleman people on the Coleman sites are a little "stuffy" and don't like newcomers, so stick with us.
I can bet other than cosmetic, that lantern is ready to go.
Go to wally world and buy a 4 pack of tie on mantles, and get a gallon of fuel. DO NOT buy the clip on mantles. waste of money, and they don't hold up
let me know when you have those, we'll start a thread in or about "Jim's 29 Coleman", and get her fired up so you can use it. Restore it this winter on down time
Thanks Charlie. I'll get going on that when we get back. #1 son and gal are here now to house sit so we're heading out now for the medium elevations of the High part of the Cascade Mountains. I always use the tie on mantles. Have a bunch of those and a full gallon of Coleman white gas in the garage and another in the camper.
Can't stand the clip on mantles. I have a Coleman North Star propane (1500 Lumens) that has to use those accordion mantles. I don't like those either.
Need to call the state now to see if they have fixed the water main up there that was broken on the 22nd of last month. If not, (it's a State Project - so will probably take a year to do a 2 day job) I'll have to load 51 gallons of water on board and drag an extra 410 pounds up the mountain.
