i forgot to run my remote wire from my kenwood cd player to my alpine amp so i want to do a switch for the remote wire from the amp. can sombody please explain what to do when switching the remote turn on. thanks for the help
1. you could just yank the kenwood cd and hook up the remote wire as it is supose to be done.
OR
2. find a +12v ignition wire (i.e. a wire that is only on when the key is in the run position) and wire the remote turn on for the amp to that wire you could put a toggle switch on this wire too if you would like to be able to manually turn off the amp. This will power the amp only when the key is in a run position. RECOMENDED!!
OR
3. Find a constant +12v (ie a wire that always is powered up) wire under your dash or where ever is convenient. then wire a toggle switch inline with this wire. DON'T FORGET TO TURN OFF THE SWITCH WHEN YOU TURN OFF YOUR CAR AND LEAVE!! This isn't the method that I would recomend as it is easily possible to leave the amp on when you leave your car and come back to a dead battery.
