I have a 2004 F150. It came with just one key and one key fob. I soon learned that the key fob kills the battery in about a week. So I ordered 2 new key fobs. Looked up procedure to program them, did the key cycle thing, and the truck locks cycled showing that it was in the program mode. but when I pressed a button on the new remotes, there was no key lock cycle that the truck is supposed to do to show that the fob is programmed. neither of my two new remotes will program. I switched the batteries from the new remotes to the old remote, and the old remote will not reprogram to the truck. the old remote still works, but im back to the draining batteries again. the truck does have some sort of extra immobilizer on it (thank you Manitoba insurance) has anyone run into this problem at all?
If it wasn't from a Ford dealer but are supposed to be factory than the engineering number on the back of it should read 2L3T-15K601-AB, 8L3T-15K601-AB OR 8S4T-15K601-AB because there is more than one fob that has (3) buttons that is used for different years. If it doesn't have anything on the back than it is aftermarket.
Also, did you do the key lock cycle programming with the doors shut? Lot of people forget to do that.
The only way that the fob should drain the battery is if one of the buttons is stuck (pushed) according to our Ford tech.
I got the key fobs from the local ford dealer. it is the 4 button because it has factory command start. none of the buttons are stuck on the old fob. it works perfectly except for the battery dying after 1-2 weeks. also, I have read that when programing new fobs, that you also have to reprogram the old fobs. well it wont work with the old one either.
You have to have two original keys to program a new one.
Are you leaving the working fob in the truck at night or when your not in the truck? it could be running the battery down because the trucks system is communicating with the fob.
you have to have two KEYS to program a new KEY... I don't think the FOBS have anything to do with that.... I remember something about cycling 8 times in 10 seconds on one of my cars (forget the year).. If you take 11 seconds it will not work... Don't know your sequence, but make sure your not spending too much time on intervals.

Forgot which thread(year) I was in.
1.Have all doors shut
2. cycle the key from off to on (not starting) then back off 8-15 times within 10 seconds.
3.you will hear the door lock actuator- then press the lock or unlock button on the remote that you are trying to program.
ride_red....Did you buy the truck new? Cause our Ford catalog doesn't list a (4) button for that year. I didn't think that Ford had factory installed remote start yet. You can give me the last 8 digits of you vin and I can see if is factory or dealer installed. Most had a separate fob for remote start because if it was Ford than it was dealer accessory installed kit. Or what is the engineering number on the back of the original fob? And did the Ford dealer you got the new fobs cross that number to get the correct ones? There is more than one (4) button fob available. If it not the correct one than it will not program. We come across this all the time with our preowned vehicles when the salesperson tries to get one to work..
so I have found out that it is a factory installed command start system .. the model is H63DB. It says that it requires PC-32 module which is what I have, but I guess obviously it takes some sort of different procedure. anything I have found online is that you need 2 keys to program the remotes, but I only have one at the moment. does any of this make more sense?
