The dome light does not light up when either of the doors open, the rotary dimmer switch is clicked to the on position or the remote is used to unlock the doors. The courtesy lights in the doors and the cargo light do work with door opening, rotary switch turned on or the doors opened with the remote. The map reading lights work. The door ajar indicator works properly on the opening and closing of the doors.
From reading previous posts on similar problems, it looks like the dome light is powered through a relay located on the interior fuse panel. Does the relay only power the dome light or does the relay power the dome light and the cargo light and door mounted courtesy lights through the relay? I am wondering if the dome light is not lighting up due to a wiring or grounding issue.

My truck is a 2000 F350 Supercab.
The Relay you speak of is the Timer Circuit Relay (2nd from the top on the Left "I Think"). It powers the entire accessory circuit # ???? (I'll have to look that up!).
What you're probably experiencing is a defective head unit, bad ground, or resistance somewhere in the circuit.
A DVOM will be your friend for troubleshooting.
Sorry, that's all I can ad now. Repost any questions and I'll see what I can come up with in the Factory Manual.
The door courtesy, dome light, and cargo lights are on a separate fused circuit from the glove box, engine compartment, and map lights. The door ajar light would indicate a ground signal is being sent to the GEM module which controls the Interior Lamp relay. Check the 10a fuse that powers the Interior Lamp relay. If the fuse is good, there could be a problem with the relay or the ground signal from the GEM that activates. Here are a couple of diagrams for the circuits that should help.
Oddly enough, I'm experiencing a very similar issue that started just two days ago. I have a two wire setup for the dome light (it looks like the light has provisions for a three wire harness as well.) My dome light mounts to the ceiling via three screws, two of which screw in to a small receptacal each...one for 12v pos, one for ground. My DMM shows me there is power to the 12v (green wire) all the time, regardless of doors open, closed, or closed for a long time.
Like the OP, my map lights work, but the dome light does not, nor does the cargo light.
I'll be review the schematic posted (thank you) as well the checking the noted fuse.
i know this is going to sound stupid, but have you checked or replaced the bulb?
99% of the time i get them in for no dome light it is nothing more than a burned out bulb.
I have a different situation but involving the dome/map lights that has me stumped. My dome lights all work correctly but none of my map lights are working. (front and rear lights in crew cab).I checked the bulbs and even the dome light housing for continuity. Even checked the grounding points. At a loss for now.
does the interior lamp relay control the map light/underhood light also?
My dome light works fine,
but the green/yellow constant wire that goes to my map lights and underhood light have no power? number 4 fuse is fine and is hot coming in?
I am an 01 XL F350 PSD
and I upgraded the two wire dome light to the 3 wire one with map lights.
I am stumped. maybe a break in the the yellow green wire somewhere under the dash right after it comes out of the CJB
