Remote start install question

I'm getting ready to get a remote start system for my Ex. I've had good luck with Viper systems in the past so will most likely go with something like the 4105. The question is related to being spoiled by our new Explorer. You can set the climate control and the heated/cooled seats and heated steering wheel to automatic so when you use the remote starter they automatically come on.

I leave my climate control on auto so that is no big deal so I'm wondering if anyone has used the aux channel on their remote start or alarm to trigger the heated seats? I want to do a couple of things to the heated seats - change the timer control to on or off and also be able to trigger it remotely. Anyone tried this or have a wiring diagram for the seat heater system/switch?

To be honest I never worry about the heated seats, I find it's quite warm just running the fan and heat at high. I always thought of heated seats for people who just jump in and go. If using the third channel you will definitely want a relay set up due to the amp draw. Good luck

Good point - my seats are a little slow to heat up though so thought if I gave them the same 4-5 minutes before I drive it would be better. The aux channel would definitely only be a trigger but I haven't seen a diagram yet to see what it would take. If I could just change the switch to an on/off vs. timer I could just leave it on when I park it at night and not have to worry about any other changes or wiring.

I checked my '04, seat heat was on, shut off the engine, about an hour later I remote started it. It ran for about 10 mins and when I got in the seat was toasty, so it came on with the remote start. I was always under the impression it was timed or pressure sensitive, mine doesn't seem to be either.

I have the viper alarm/ auto start with the 2 way remote. I suggest if you are going to spend the money on an auto start get the 2 way.

It is a pain on our expy, and watching everyone else at work have to get up and go check if the vehicle is actually started when the 1 way remote is used. On the X with the 2 way remote I know every time if I have a start or not. Way more convenient, and that is what you are getting with remote start to begin with, convenience.

As for the heated seats, if they are taking that long to heat up I would change them to the newer carbon fiber seat heaters. Christina just added a how to on that. You should be able to control the heated seats with any of the viper systems. With my added heated seats I just leave them on low heat as I have them wired to ign. on hot wire.

I thought the heated seats automatically come on with the truck as long as they were left on when it was shut off?? Atleast I think that is how they ar in mine unless I am bonkers

I have the viper with the iPhone/ios app to remote start it also. Works awesome. I can start my truck when I land at the airport.
