Stupid issue w/ remote start..Help
Hey all, I have an Avital remote start/alarm system installed on my truck. When I start it remotely the vacuum pump that changes the air flow from defrost to vent doesn't work. The AC won't come out of the vents until I put the key in the switch and turn it on which defeats the main purpose for me having remote start anyway. I'm not sure where to start searching, I'm not sure if it's a truck problem or a remote start problem. Does anyone have any thoughts at all on this? Thanks..Phil

I just checked and discovered there isn't any power going to the vacuum pump when the engine has been started remotely till you turn the switch to the on position. I thought everything was energized during a remote start by default, anyone know. If not can you go into the settings of the remote start and set the vacuum pump to be energized? I've dealt with the same guy on ALL things car sounds/electronics for years now but I had an issue with a purchase and he instantly became a douche bag after us buying six remote start systems, four nice navi head units, four window tint jobs, countless sets of HID headlights and now LED head lights for my wifes Tahoe so that's why I'm not going back to him..just yet. If anyone has any info they can throw in here I would greatly appreciate it. Vacation is coming quick and I need to get this sorted out. Thanks...

Unfortunately that's not how a remote start works. Can't just go into some settings and turn systems on and off like that.
Sounds like the GEM isn't being powered on during a remote start. You'd have to install a power lead and relay hooked up to the remote start module to get it to turn on. Remote starts on these trucks are manually wired into certain systems (starter, ignition, door locks, dome light, etc). If it's not wired in, or connected some other way, it won't power on.
