...maybe a mechanical engineering student can make this a credit project, 3D print (after designing it) a replacement clam-shell half with a 'wall' around the button...sell them in the MARKETPLACE for a nominal fee...or we have to start wearing fob holsters !
I'm fortunate to work for a university that has a maker lab open to the university community. I am going to see about adding a front cover to the design so it can act as a slip on/slip off "holster" so-to-speak. I only actively use the remote to start the truck up to defrost it, so that is only a few months a year.
I HAVE A 2019 F-350 LARIAT WITH 1600 MILES ON IT. I HAVE HAD THE TAILGATE OPEN UNCOMMANDED 6 TIMES SINCE NEW. I CONTACTED THE DEALER AND THEY HAVE NOT RETURNED MY CALLS. I DO NOT HAVE A WIRING DIAGRAM TO FIND THE CORRECT WIRE TO THE REMOTE OPENER IN THE TAILGATE. IT IS ANNOYING AND DANGEROUS. ANY SUGGESTIONS? PLEASE

A. Stop shouting (using all caps)
B. Go in to see the dealer. Mine is lousy about answering the phone or returning messages.
C. There is some thought that the tailgate opening is caused by corrosion in the connectors found under the bed. Open them up and see if there is water inside.
I jumped on this thread because I wanted to know if there is a “tailgate open” warning light on the dash that should light up. I know I don’t have one. I have never opened the tail gate accidentally with the key fob but the large button down low by the hood release is very easy to press accidentally. I have done this during night driving and went many miles with the gate open. Not until I put the car in reverse to park at my destination did I catch it. Egads….Fortunately everything in the bed was too heavy to fall out. Welcome any notes for comparison.

Here are a couple other threads on the subject in question, there are more, some possibly better. Also, if the doors are locked while driving, the interior tailgate release button should not open the tailgate. That might help with the accidental part.
I just recently received a letter from FORD. They are supposed to be finally fixing the problem. The parts will be available from FORD later this Year. It has happened to me several times. There is no indicator light to let you know this has happened. Mine has opened with no input at all from me at least 6 times since new. My Diamondback cap helps hold it in place otherwise it would happen more often.

Did they previously do the tailgate recall on your truck but the problem continued?
My '22 F350 CCSB Lariat does not show a recall. But, thanks to the good folks on this forum, and especially the folks that had the misfortune of having their tailgate damaged, or the loss of items from the bed of their trucks, I want to say I'm sorry, and thank you for sharing. I have added straps for my truck in the event it should open unexpectedly. I know it's overkill, but it's cheap insurance.
