2013 Lariat .. I know if you lock the doors, then try to open them without the FOB the horn alarm will sound.
Twice in 3 weeks I have had the alarm go off while setting in the driveway with the doors unlocked. Both times, about 5 minutes after parking. All I could think of is DOOR SWITCH not making up so I sprayed all 4 door lock mechanisms with penetrating oil and slammed door 12 times each......... My question is, how can this happen when doors are not LOCKED ? I thought the system was not active until LOCKED ?
Steve have you looked to see if by chance there's an aftermarket alarm wired in under the dash?
I've seen this before when vehicles are purchased and the owner never knows it has an alarm. If you bought it used then it could have been installed at any time. If it was new, it may have been a dealer installed item. If the dealer you purchased from doesn't add alarms, then it could have been a dealer traded truck.
I think what is happening is that I put the key ring in my pocket with 5-6 keys on it and ONE is bumping the ALARM button on the key... I narrowed it down to only happening when I put the keys in or take the keys out of my pocket... don't happen when they set on the table !!
