Since I got the truck, it was a simple matter of hitting the fob button and the alarm is set. Now, I can't get the alarm to set. The doors will lock, but the alarm, nada! Is there a way to reset the alarm so it'll work like it's supposed to?
Almost forgot, it's possible that my daughter accidentally turned off the alarm, but neither one of us knows for sure.
According to the Ford Dealer, it's the standard Ford alarm with the fob that has three buttons. One to lock, another to unlock, and a panic button.
It looks a lot like this one:
You said it may be in valet mode. I noticed the flashing light is on all the time. I'm thinking you may have something there. How do you return it to the normal mode?
There is no standard Ford alarm. There was an optional dealer installed alarm, but it's actually an aftermarket alarm with Ford badges on it (Codealarm I think). If you didn't pay extra to have an alarm installed by the dealer you don't have an alarm.
Are you sure you weren't just hearing the door lock confimation? If you hit the lock button twice your horn should chirp to confirm that you have locked the doors and they are all shut. If one of your doors is open when you do this it will chirp more than once (three times I think) to let you know that the doors are locked, but one of them is open. Many people think that this horn chirp when you hit the lock button twice is an alarm, but it isn't.

I bought the truck second hand, so I don't know for sure if it's an alarm or what. What I do know is, prior to last week, if I opened any door on the truck without hitting the off button on the fob, the horn honks until I hit the fob's off button (sounds and acts like an alarm). Now, when I hit the set button, the lights flash like they did before, but the horn doesn't honk unless I hit the button twice. Even then, the horn doesn't honk when I try to open the doors without disarming the alarm. I never tried bumping the truck to see if that would set the alarm off, so I'm not 100% sure that it's an alarm.
Ok, that does sound like an alarm, it was probably the dealer installed one if you are using the regular Ford keyfob.
Sounds like there may be an issue with the alarm itself. You wil need to find the alarm brain box and try to figure out what you have. Start looking under the dash on thr drivers side for a black box with a bunch of wires going to it.
Look around under the dash for a push button or switch that looks like an add on. Two common ways are to filp a switch with the key on or push the button within a few seconds of turning the key off.
Most of the Ford factory systems i have seen use the toggle switch.
I have the same alarm as you...I believe. What you need to do is turn your ignition on and off three times within a few seconds and it will reset your alarm back to normal. You will go into valet mode if someone turns the ignition on and off a couple of times within a few seconds.
Fixed it! I clicked the ignition several times until the lights flashed and the horn honked. I pushed the button behind the light that usually flashes, hit the lock buttons on the fobs, and it worked like it's supposed to.
