some complained that the side/turn signal cameras were too bright at night and they completely turned the feature off (w/ the 20second button press).
if the turn signal is on & im tired of looking at the live view on the display I simply tap the camera button once to go back to the HOME screen.
just not sure why the side view (side mounted mirror) cameras are so poor in resolution...or at least thats how it seems compared to the other cams
In bright light the side cameras are good on my 2018 dually. At night, not so good. But under a lighted overpass, good again So, the sensor is fairly poor in low light conditions.

My only guess was that the side cameras were intended to be used for the surround stitching only (mostly) and because they wanted to cram 5 cameras on these trucks while sticking to a budget, something had to give. Be glad they aren't like the OEM side cameras on the new Raptors - where you see 40% less camera image, those are like looking through a tunnel when forced on. We're in process for developing a similar kit for these trucks as well right now. But again, I'll see if an upgrade is a possibility.
Hi Sam, thanks for the feedback and the welcome. You're right, the USB cable needs to be removed from the kit BOM. We added a USB on the board for updates, but this first run of (~100) kits will not SW upgradeable, so the USB cable was pulled. I'll have the manual updated this coming week. The next hardware revision will USB upgradable, but will not be likely not be sold for less than retail ($450).
As for your first attempt and not showing the camera (any of them), this had to have been a slight misalignment of the IPM T-harness connection, and you got it square on your second attempt. Note that in this SYNC 3 system, you can fully leave the camera module disconnected and the radio will fully work until you do anything that requires showing a camera. So if there was a camera issue and everything else was good (radio screen visual and sound etc), then the issue was likely that specific T-harness.
We've thought about adding zip ties or a velcro strip to our kits, but the vast majority of our kits are sold to 12v install dealers and not retail or DIY guys and they typically have this stuff already. Appreciate the feedback either way though!
my box has a small USB type plug - does that mean its up-gradable?

Hi wicked,
sorry, no. I can see how that was confusing. The original plan was for them all to be up-gradable, but the first batch is not. We have not yet released the hardware that's up-gradable, we only have beta's in-house at the moment. Ill update you all when that changes and how to tell the difference.
Are you saying that connecting a 12v switch to the input as described in the instructions will not work on the unit that we have? To be honest that is one of the features I was really looking forward to.
Does it work or not? I would rather not go through the trouble of hooking it up if it won't do anything.

Hi emanaresi, you are correct, the INPUT 1 is non-functional, i apologize for the confusion. If this is a deal-breaker for you, then we will gladly refund.
Brendon,

not sure why this feature would be needed - an extra switch seems gimmicky more than anything. The system works just fine with a push (or two) of the factory camera button. Flipping another switch to serve the same function as pushing the factory button is nonsensical for 99.9% of installs. If it was an aftermarket system that couldn't sense reverse on its own, a +12V trigger from reverse lights would be needed to automatically make reverse camera come on, but this system already knows, so the extra trigger is not needed.
I've been driving my truck for a week now with the NavTV system installed and love it. The side camera with blinker works great at day and at night without issue. I found that if you get too aggressive with the camera button pushes (like trying to switch from rear (single tap) to front (double tap) too quickly) it can cause the system to hang up for 30 seconds or so. As long as I let the system keep up with the pushes and wait for the key "beep" before pushing it again it has worked well. After 2 years and 25k miles, this is probably my favorite mod on my '17 450.
It is not a deal breaker at the moment. Still a very cool product, but lets please keep the lack of upgradability and the lack of the switched force to camera option in mind when you offer us an upgrade path.
I was hoping that it would allow me to go to the reverse camera then back to the forward camera etc without repressing buttons on the dash...
As it is now, if I am maneuvering my crew cab long bed in a tight spot or maneuvering a trailer if I have the fwd/360 then shift to reverse it changes to reverse/360, then when I shift back to fwd it just goes back to the radio screen.
I was hoping that a switched input would force it to go back to the fwd camera when I shifted back into a fwd gear.
Maybe this functionality is there and I am missing something?
