P0720 code

Hi,
I have a problem i'm hoping someone might be familiar with. So I was driving my truck to the store, parked purchased my items and when I returned to my truck and proceeded to leave I lost power going forward, the overdrive light was blinking, the wrench light came on, and the "trans fault" was displayed in the corner. I turned the truck off and the trans fault went away. The truck will go forward but revs really high, and i got full power in reverse. I used the code reader on it and came up with P0720( output shaft speed sensor circuit) and P2106(throttle actuator control system, forced limited power)

I first thought it was a transmission problem( before i used the code reader) since i couldn't go forward without revving the engine at higher than normal RPM and called a transmission place. I explained it to them and without looking at it they say it needs a new transmission. I was hoping that someone might have had some similar problems and could give me any information that could help.
I appreciate your time and help.

Most likely the forward clutch drum broke at the snap ring land, since it happened suddenly and was fine just a few minutes prior. There is nothing electrical that will cause no forward but good reverse. It sets the codes because the PCM sees the TSS increasing with engine rpm but the output isn't reading what it should be. The p2106 is a failsafe strategy in the PCM to attempt to save the trans by limiting engine power. You shouldn't need a whole transmission, just an overhaul.

Yes, he's right. This trans needs to come out and be rebuilt.
