OK gang, help me out with what tranny it is. 1965 "N" code 4-speed bolted up behind the FE. Granny low first with the reverse to the right and down.

Ford used 2 4 speeds in pickups back then, NP 435 ( reverse over and down ) and the Warner T98 ( reverse over and up).

I have a 65 f250 with 240 6 with 4 speed over and up and 65 f350 with 4 speed over away and back. Will the trannys interchange? And was it common for the 6 cyl.to have the warner and the fe to have the new process?Just curious.

Yes, they'ii interchange. I've swapped both out over the years. Last on was a 74 F-100 with a 302 and I replaced the 3 speed with the Warner. As to the 6 using the warner, I can't really say. They're both good units.
