The connector and wiring look both look fine. I did not test it, but this pigtail test will help pinpoint the problem.

Pretty much explains it all. By supplying 12V to the IPR, it cuts the PCM out of the picture. If I still have no pressure, then the IPR could still be bad. The IPR uses the same style connector that injector solenoids do.
And I think that the EBPV uses the same one but I'm not 100% on it. Unless the EBPV and bowl heater are the same. I CRS anymore.

My EBPV uses a 3-pin connector whereas the IPR and injectors use a 2-pin connector with a metal latch to hold them in place. The fuel bowl heater on my truck is larger, a different shape, and lacks a latch.

Of course, I'm sure this is something Ford changed several times over the years.

Andy, any updates to this since getting the injector pigtail in the mail? I know you have been busy, but just wanted to see if you had any time this past week to take a look at the Ex.

Hey Sous,

Yes I did get the parts and the wires in the mail. It rained all last week here so I didn't have a chance to get out there and do anything with it until yesterday. The test proved that the PCM and everything on that side is fine. The truck won't start even with 12v applied to the IPR. So now I'm working on changing the IPR. I had to go out and buy a 1 1/8" socket and it won't quite fit over the IPR so I'm going to have it drilled out a bit at a machine shop on Monday. I haven't even gotten the old one off the truck yet. Last year when I had the truck all apart it was easy to get the IPR off because the pump was off the truck. It's a lot more difficult to get it off with the pump installed. Hopefully I'll have a positive update sometime next week.

I am sure you had the same weather we did, it was nasty out there.

Keep us updated, and post a picture of the modified socket/tool when you get it done. We love pictures.

Not to derail the thread, but is there a 1-1/8" socket that that fits without modification? Something more affordable than a Snap-On?

IIRC the Sears socket used to fill that order but given their current state of affairs who knows.

It has to be a deeper than normal deep socket or something right?

If you still can't find a deep enough socket, weld a nut on the back of the regular deep socket so you have something to wrench on.

I see a few options out there using my Google-Fu for extra deep sockets for ~$20. One on Amazon by Sunex for $18. This might be a good item to have for Santa give as a stocking stuffer.

Amazon Amazon

Hmmm... I'll take a look at that.

Nice find. Yes, that's a tool I want to have right next to the new IPR in my spare parts box in the rear A/C compartment.

I got one from NAPA years ago. They had it on the shelf. I had them pull in IPR from stock to test the fit there in the store.

Not necessarily deeper. The problem with the sockets I've tried is that the threaded part of the IPR (the part that the tin nut screws onto) doesn't fit into the opening. If it were drilled out slightly, the socket would slip over the end of it no problem. I guess an overall deeper socket would work too, but I'm also a little worried about clearance issues.

That's not going to solve this particular problem.

I will try the one Napa has on the shelf. They were closed when I went down there on Saturday - stores close at noon around here if you can believe it. Maybe I can get away with not having to drill one out.
