Question Blower Motor or Resistor?

So this morning I noticed the blower motor wasn’t working on any speed, shut truck off and started it again and it works. Repeated that and the blower doesn’t work again …. So is it the motor or the resistor? Thanks

Mine was the motor, ( easy to test if you jump 12v to the motor )

if it is the tesistor the motor should run on high since that’s is a straight circuit to Power.

John, I never did like the way the harness connector plugged into the motor. May just want to disconnect the plug, check for cleanliness on the pins and go from there.

In addition, you can pull the resistor without removing anything else (I think I am remembering that correctly) to see if it is corroded and in need of being replaced. I replaced both the motor and resistor a couple years ago when I did the video for cleaning the A/C condenser coil.

Thanks guys. Sounds like the motor but I’ll dig into it before I open my wallet.

Not trying to hijack, but figured since mine was related maybe somebody would benifit. My blower motor works but doesn’t seem to blow air as fast/strong as it used to. I have an aftermarket blower motor in there currently. Is it just not as good as the oem or do I have something else wrong?

Have you cleaned your evaporator coil in the box? Over time dust collects on there and blocks air flow. Herr Sous has a good video on it if you haven't looked into it yet.

I meant to say evaporator coil in my previous post, not condenser. Either way, below is the video Mark mentioned.

So is the blower motor a OEM required item or is aftermarket alright? I’m going to try a dig into this, this afternoon.

I bought an aftermarket one a few couple years back and it has been fine for my use. I did not notice an increase or decrease in air flow. I replaced it simply for good measure and I was in there doing other maintenance anyway.

Well truck is fixed. 95% sure it was the motor but since I was in there I replaced the resistor too. The new motor didn’t come with the foam collar so be careful with the one on the stock motor. The motor I got came with some goofy connector that you have to determine which way the motor needs to turn so keep that in mind when wiring it up. $56 OTD This was not a hard job just a PITA, had to disconnect and remove the vacuum pump, ac low pressure connection etc. Thanks for the help.

You had to break the AC system open?

No, just removed the low pressure electrical connector on it. I left the sensor in place, but it would have been convenient to be able to remove it along with the accumulator. Luckily I have some 1/4” drive sockets that fit.
