Blower motor resistor pack?

After 115K the blower motor resistor pack went out causing the motor to only work on high and off. changed part and a week later it went out again. So, O.K. I got a bad part. Returned to Ford and got another one, Same thing in about a week. Is there something causing this or do I just have another bad one? Thanks, Matt.

I would check to see how much current the motor is drawing.... Also verify that the resistors in the pack are, in fact, open i.e. bad. If they still have resistance, then you need to check the switch and/or wiring

I guess if the motor draw is too much the resistors are burning up.... Does it turn freely?

I have changed the switch in dash already. Blower motor seems free. How can I test the draw on motor? Thanks.

Hmmmm. Not sure I can help. Testing the current draw of the motor is very easy with the right equipment, but you would know that if you had an ammeter/ VOM.... Do you know anyone with some electrical experience?

i also hav a Astro van was doing same thing. but the motor was just alittle heavy. So i changed both. But I changed the resistor twice. And the third time, ended up the plug got lose.
But if blower is less then 50 buck try it.

Just to let everyone know about this long ago problem, it was the blower motor drawing too much.

Thanks for letting us know. I for sure would have suspected the resistors, how did you figure out it was the motor?

I had already changed the resistor pack and it burnt out again. I pulled the motor off and compared it to a new one and it was harder to turn. Never did test draw on old motor.

Blower Motor Resistor

Where is the blower motor resistor located in a 2005 F350 6.0 Lariat?
