Windshield Replacement
A few tips about my experience:
I called my insurance and Safelite and explicitly requested a factory replacement. I told them I would not accept aftermarket. To my surprise I got zero pushback on this.
i spoke with the Safelite tech who came to repair it and he told me to make sure I request a “senior tech” for the replacement. He also mentioned he wasn’t aware of a limit on how many replacements insurance will cover, apparently he’s had 6 replaced on his personal vehicle.
I spoke with Progressive and they told me that as long as the replacement cost is under $1000 it will not affect my rates. Keep in mind this is their cost not retail as some guys mentioned above. Progressive told me this windshield is well under $1000.
The safelite tech that came out was excellent, he knew what he was doing, answered all my questions and did a flawless install. I can’t even tell it was replaced and I am very critical of my vehicles. It only took him about an hour. My rear view mirror is on perfectly and he was even able to save my sun pass and stick it on the new windshield
the only thing missing is the KTP sticker from the truck plant that they stick on the bottom right. That is done when they assemble the truck and not included in a factory windshield replacement. But you can order one from eBay for a couple of $ and replace it yourself.
this was my first replacement, I was really worried about it because I hate letting anyone else work on my vehicles but it turned out fine.
