Windshield got cracked from a rock yesterday! Has anyone had one of these windshields replaced? Anything to be worried about? I do have the lane keep assist camera.
I didn't own my truck two weeks and I got hit by a rock and cracked the windshield. I'm waiting for the end of winter and no more sanding the roads before I get mine replaced. Seems like an annual occurance around here.
I do know that you want to make sure and get the SoundScreen windshield. Basically an Accustical windshield. Makes a huge difference in the cab noise. You can see the SoundScreen logo on your factory windshield. Just make sure what ever replacement you get has the Accustical glass.
Got hit last week also, was about 2in. By the time I drove another 10 miles home, almost 2ft. Starting right in the SoundScreen logo to the camera.
Called the dealer and rhey they sent me the info for where they send the trucks for windshield replacements, they said they add 20% And to just go straight to their source, oem Glass with all the right logos and features. Should look 100% identical.

Make sure they don't use a f150 glass. I have seen a lot of this
I have not had to have my lane assist calibrated after replacement. Only necessary if they bump it is what I have been told.
^^^^this^^^^
Shouldn’t need any recalibration, the camera for the lane keeping snaps into its own cleat on the windshield. So as long as the installer knows what they are doing and lines the glass up before dropping it in, there shouldn’t be any issues.
I watched my installer replace mine and it didn’t appear to be very difficult at all, just a few additional steps compared to windshields of old. I did go with OEM glass and not one issue so far with 8000 miles since replacement.

Mine was replaced by a Ford owned glass shop and they said calibration is required. It sounds reasonable that removing the camera's from one windshield and installing on another even a small misalignment would be magnified greatly over the distance between the camera and the road.

Took a rock 2 days ago at 8am...went for a chip repair 2 hours later and they cracked the glass. Going to wait a few weeks for the weather to change before I drop the $200 deductible on a new windshield.
Found this on the F150 Forum on a thread about windshield replacement. I would be concerned that some glass shops don't want to make the investment in equipment they would require to align the cameras in every brand of vehicle and possible even different models from the same manufacturer. They can just get around it by saying it is not necessary.

Camera Alignment
Camera alignment is required for the lane keeping alert and lane keeping aid to function correctly. The procedure is initiated using the
and requires about 10 minutes of driving above 40 mph (64 km/h) to complete. NOTE: The alignment completion is indicated on the diagnostic scan tool. If the alignment is unsuccessful, check the interior mirror for proper installation.
NOTE: The FRONT CAMERA MALFUNCTION - SERVICE REQUIRED message in the IPC disappears when the system is aligned.
The IPMA camera alignment procedure should be performed when any of the following occur:
-Windshield replacement
-Change in tire size
-Suspension repair or alignment
-Front air bag deployment
-Interior mirror replacement
Liability legalese. Not one issue with mine and I use the lane keeping assist. It works spot on. To each there own though, it certainly wouldn’t hurt to have it done.
Thanks to everyone for the feedback and suggestions. I asked all the relevant questions and went with a shop that had good reviews. Unfortunately I still had a bad experience. When they installed the windshield is is pushed all the way to the drivers side. Virtually no gap to the A pillar on the drivers side and probably close to 1/2" on the passenger side.
By the time I saw it the urethane had cured enough that it could not be moved. We now have another appointment for Saturday morning to have it replaced again...
