And another P20BA thread

Getting this code now for a few days, learned about CSP 18M01, but, Alas, my 13 is not covered under this. I read what vehicles are covered, what I am wondering is why the 2013-2015 F250s and F350s were excluded, did they switch parts manufacturers or something? I would assume this is a common part across the entire platform.... I have tried with no results to get the answer. I asked my service manager and the answer was "I don't know". I called the Customer Relations number and got an explanation that since the age of my truck and its mileage it wasn't eligible(BS- 2011s and 2012s are being covered to the end of the year-regardless of mileage) and a repeat that the truck was not covered, then was told to call the NTSB, and that since my truck was out of warranty, it was my responsibility to cover the cost of repairs. As you can imagine my blood was pretty much boiling at that point. Is this code is definitely related to the DEF heater in the tank, or does also point back to the line heater?, and why does mine only come on when the ambient air temp is above freezing? It has only recently started dipping down below 32 degrees F here in OR, and has not yet reached the freezing point for the DEF. system check says less than 1/2 full for DEF. Is there another possible cause for this code? I don't mind having to do some work to save me some money, however, I am not fond of throwing parts at it until it works. I have had this truck for about two years, and these emissions related CELs are driving me crazy. First was a EGT sensor- no problem, covered under warranty. Next a clogged EGR cooler-not covered- $900 out of pocket expense. Next- clogged DEF injector- done free of charge after raising hell with the GM of the dealership that sold me a certified used truck, with only one key,"B" rated tires, yada,yada,yada......now this..... some guidance would be great. Do I just order the aftermarket part and replace the heater, or take it to a certified diesel shop that will waive the diagnostic fee if I have them repair the issue? I have done nothing so far except clear the code as the ambient air temp is above 50 degrees F when the CEL illuminates. Would prefer to try and pin point the problem first.......

The P20BA deals with the reductant heater. It should be covered under the FSA 18M01. Not sure what or who told you about 15M01. Go back to your dealer with your problem and check to see if it falls under the 18M01.

Better yet, go create an account on Ford Owner website or get the FordPass app for you phone and see what it says when you enter your VIN. My 2015 shows it is covered for 3 FSA's. 15M02 for EGT's, 17M04 for CCV and 18M01 for the reductant heater and sender repair.

My bad Larry, it is 18M01 I was referring to. I will edit my post to reflect that. As to the the Ford owner site, already have an account set up and my truck is not listed, it does have it listed for the EGT sensors

SUBJECT: Customer Satisfaction Program 18M01
Certain 2011-2012 Model Year F250-F550 and 2013-2015 F450-F550 equipped with a 6.7L Diesel Engine.

FSA 18M01 only covers certain years and certain models of diesel trucks. Unfortunately my 2014 F250 isn't covered. But maybe this would be a good reason to delete all the emissions crap. lol

It's a valid reason for some, a decision I was faced with as well. Justin's state shows OR and I'm fairly certain they have diesel emissions testing, at least depending on GVWR.

Very odd. I have the letter for my 13 F350 pickup sitting right next to me. Maybe it hasn't been rolled out in full yet? Idk. 2013 production was short, but mine was built 4/1/13.

Very odd indeed. Ferguson65..mine was rolled off the assembly line on the 16th of January 2013.....that is the very reason I'd like to know the why only certain vehicles are covered,.....I am going to order the aftermarket part from Dorman and do the change out myself......don't have the time nor the energy to go round and round with Ford and canned responses

Is the Dorman cheaper than 34% off list (dealer)? This is the part number on my paperwork. BC3Z-5J225-L.
