IPR Mod

I purchased my 2003 6.0 over 5 years ago. When I purchased it, I replaced the oil cooler, deleted the EGR, coolant bypass kit and a blue spring in addition to an ATLAS 40 tune by Ed. Over the past 3 years, I have had to replace my IPR valve screen 3 times! I hardly dive the truck but I hate it when it does not start! PITA!

So, I"ve been considering going to a local oil filter company who makes hydraulic lines to fabricate a line that goes into the IPR spot and then attach the IPR about 12 inches away so I can easily access the IPR if it clogs. Has anyone done this? I do plan on changing my oil cooler to an OEM cooler as I have the sinister one and from what I've read, OEM coolers are best outside of a relocation cooler ( which I am not spending 1000+ or more). I know the particles I keep getting in my IPR are from the sinister gasket for the oil cooler, I see a light green/blue particles on the IPR screen every time I get a no start I was pretty type A when I changed the oil cooler and I did the job right and was very cautious about keeping everything clean. What I am seeing in the IPR is what looks like little gasket particles which are kind of a greenish blue color. I assume that the gasket for the sinister/doorman oil cooler has been breaking apart which is why I continue to see sediment of the gasket in my IPR.

Anyway, just wondering if anyone has tried to relocate their IPR valve for ease of maintenance and/or no starts?

Thank you

IPR valve needs a loop to get rid of the oil, or it would have been designed as a one way sensor like your ICP
Hence the reason to keep things surgically clean when doing things up top, at some point all the oil makes it's way through that tiny screen.
In this case you were bit by a bad gasket, suck I realize but the only sure fix is to pull the cooler and replace the gasket

Nice post Mike.

Also, that valve is duty cycled. Pretty fast acting. I would think that it would take some stout bracing to keep it stabilized!

Relocating the IPR would be a chore do mostly the reason that Navistarnut on the return bleed oil when the regulator is shunting oil back to the crankcase.
It would take a special housing and 2 oil lines. One that brings the potential oil pressure of 4K PSI and the other side would be a low pressure return to the case.
