well had a old thread for this truck when it was going a total different direction then I started to revive it beginning of the year. Then stuff got in the way and me and my brother started a small repair shop. So it got put on the back burner now where both needing a spare rig. And we have collected a fair amount of parts from partout trucks over the summer. So it looks like it’s time for it to go together.
The motor is a 97 engine truck it came out of showed 360,000 but oil was clean as can be when I got it. Has little to no blow by the truck came out of was very clean truck before it was wrecked. Trans is rebuilt but slightly used pulled it out of a parts truck that I picked up recently. I drove truck before pulling it everything worked fine. Plan is to leave it bone stock minus a downpipe. Also just going to run a rear tank for time being I’ll post pics and details as more progress gets done.
Sounds cool. Did I miss previous post describing project? My guess from the title and pictures is using an 05+ frame and axles, putting a 7.3 in, going to shorten frame to put OBS cab and short bed on. How far off is that? I am interested because ideally I would like to put my OBS cab/body and engine/trans on a 05+ 4x4 frame. There is a guy over on powerstrokenation that is putting an OBS body onto a 06 SD 4x4 but using the 6.0
That’s the plan for time being but as soon as money allows I plan on swapping it over to efuel and well you guys see where that will lead lol.
as far as frame It’s correct for cab and year truck just simply swapped 05 axles under it pretty simple swap.
Efuel is good, you may have a few leaks here and there...but once fixed, no leaks ever again.
I would at least rid myself of that flapper on the turbine housing plus do bellowed uppipes while apart. TP38 rebuild is cheap from Spturboost. Slap in EGT pryo too. Make sure you do not have an orange boot on there either!
Probably just gonna install new donut gaskets and gut ebp housing and plug hole in pedestal with 1/4 npt plug and remove flap. I actually have another turbo with a 1.00 housing I’m gonna install before I’m done. If all works out the plan is to run it stock till we can install a t4 setup and bigger injectors. And of course supporting mods.
Well it’s not much but I got some more of the frame rust primered have inside of it done to. Gonna try to get other side back that far to today that way I can paint it tomorrow. Hopefully I can get it painted.
Think I’m gonna leave tank selector and bypass it since I’m only running a back tank what do you guys think. Hopefully I’ll get trans crosmember swapped out for painted one today to.
