I got a 18 F-250 Platinum, with a ready lift 2.5 leveling kit. I want to run all-terrain hybrid tires. I have some 35/12.5/24 mud tires at the moment and I want to stay level for now. I had to do slight trimming on the inner fender with my current set up. Tthat being said, can I fit a 36 inch tire if I do more trimming or do I need to go to a 33 inch tire? How much would that effect ride quality with the smaller tire?
Its gonna ride like crap, but I can't imagine it rides well with those rubber bands you have now anyways?
Tire size isn't an issue, 35x12.50 should fit without any rubbing on a stock truck, I'm guessing you have a ridiculously wide rim with a large negative offset though, its the rims and the offset thats getting you. What width is your rim and what offset or backspacing are they?
It's the Fuel Forged ff02 2x12 -44 offset. It was a slight trim. The thing I'm not fond of is the noise the tires make. I put on my stock rims with the Nitto Trail Grapplers and it is quite as heck. I want to put some Nitto tires over the cheap Chinese wheels I went with.
Yea, those are sticking way out there. I couldn't tell you, I only really have a lot of personal experience in the 0 offset or less. Pretty easy to tell though, crank your steering wheel to lock and pull into a driveway, or up on a curb. See how close you are to rubbing, then add .5" to that and you'll see where a 36" tire would be.
But....you'll be hard pressed to find a 36" AT tire. I think most of them are going to be Thornbirds or IROKs, exactly the type of tire you dont want. Most ATs will be 35 or 37, I think theres a metric size in there that might be a 35.2, but most metric sizes top out at 35.
Those Nittos are too skinny for your wheels, it would work, but your rim lip would be sticking out there. I dont have much experience with Atturo, they seem like a cheap Korean brand to me, but I couldnt say one way or the other. I think the Nitto or a Toyo would be best ultimately, not sure if they make a size for you though.
