Turn your wheels to max lock and measure the width in centiimeters left for clearance at the closest point that the tire would contact. You'll have to have someone hold the wheel for you as it will settle back. Divide that number by 2, as you'll have to "half" that, and you'll have the max width you can take as stock. The rest is tire height. 285.70.R18 or 385.60.R18 (for a crappy example and is seriously not to be taken as gospel in any way, shape or form)...depends on what you want.

285 (for example) is centimeters in width, the 70 is the percentage of that width measurement in height, and the last number, 16, 17, 18, or 22 is the rim diameter. All trucks are a little different, so it's best to diy

33" on a stock 4x4
35" on a 2.5" leveled 4x4

stick with a tire that is 12.5" or less in width. a 35x12.5x17 or 35x12.5x18 will fit your OEM rims (don't know if ya got 17 or 18 rims). You may get rubbing at full lock, but not alot. Mostly depends on the rubber you buy

a 305 width tire is 12" wide and alot of guys are quite happy with these. try this site to mess around with tire sizes. a 305x60x18 is 33" tall and 12" wide...not too shabby, but I personally will go with 35" tires when I buy them

i think i'll go with 33, or the metric equivalent, but i'd prefer a 10 inch tire. little better in snow with less flotation.

305/65/17 (305/65/18) are the way to go.

hey 96sherm, this ain't my truck, but it's the one I'm modeling my truck visually after when I finally buy new rubber. belongs to Grubrunner over on F150online.com

his truck is bone stock with just a 2.5" leveling kit and new rims/tires suspension wise

tires are 35x12.5x20 Toyo M/T's wrapping Moto Metals

you can see his thread here. BTW, ignore that little part about the Autospring set settling. Leveling Kits DO NOT SETTLE. If they do, it means they weren't installed properly.

Here is my truck. 33/12.5/17 Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ on Mickey Thompson Classic II's. I love these rims and tires. Soon as these ones wear out I will get a new set. Which should be awhile from now. O and I have no rubbing what so ever and I dont have a leveling or lift kit. Its completly stock. Leveling kit soon to come though.

I have 305 cooper stts on my lincoln mark lt with a 2.5 level kit. Be carefull w/the nitto mud grapplers, I still have them on one of my F350s, 35X12.50 with a 4" lift and they rub a little. The mud grapplers have a very aggressive side knobby that really sticks out.

Sorry, meant to write this on another post. A prime example why one should not start drinking early on saturdays.
