If the lower part of the hitch mount had issues hitting the ground, it looks like you could flip the receiver so it would be setup for really tall trailers, then put the ball mount at the bottom instead of the top. Just flip the adjustable shaft upwards and set the ball mount assembly as needed. Its possible the tailgate would hit it when open, but I don't think so.

Its definitely reversible, but the picture is a little deceiving, its no where close to hitting the ground right now.
