Did not get FX4 Package - Skid Plates aftermarket?

For the 2019 F250 I just purchased, I didn't get the FX4 package (apparently it wasn't available with my configuration). I don't do any serious off roading but, like the idea of skid plates. Is this something there is a good after market source for or should I just get them from the dealer? Am i correct to assume they would just bolt on? Thanks!

They are expensive to buy from the dealer. They are also a stand-alone factory option (non FX4) for $100 which is a great deal. There are probably other aftermarket options that are better and cheaper.

I have an FX4 truck; the skidplates consist of a little flimsy "skid plate" under the transfer case area, and a larger, more substantial metal skid plate under the entire fuel tank. There is nothing under the engine / oil pan or transmission, but they are mounted high enough and behind the rear axle anyway.

I've had four new Super Duty trucks, drive all of them off road, and this is the only one I've had with skid plates. I don't find them necessary.

I got the stand alone option as well but since I don't have the truck yet, Im going off what they look like and they do look weak compared to the ones on my current 2500HD. The gas tank plate looks like it would be a mess in the winter with road salt getting in between tank and plate and just rusting it all out... Are the plates made from steel or aluminum. My current trucks is about a 1/4 plate aluminum and looks great after 13 ohio winters.

The tank plate is steel; the transfer case one is aluminum I believe. The tank is plastic, so no worries about rusting out. It's fairly thick steel. I also have an '05 GMC 3500 and the skids are better, but they are largely necessary due to IFS not offering the protection of the solid front axle. Not to mention everything seems lower on the GM anyway.

Go to Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market and input 2017 or 2018 F250 transfer case in the search drop downs (assuming they are the same in '19). You'll get lots of hits for wrecked trucks with dismantlers all over the US. I would imagine you can find what you need for skid plates used for pennies on the dollar. I have found lots of parts this way.

You will also need the correct fuel tank straps to add the fuel tank skid plate.

I have the tank straps. I even have the bolts. I don't have the nuts that are in the Frame though. so you would need those

A friend just purchased an '18 F150 4x4 3.5EB Supercrew. No skidplates. She drives offroad all over the west towing a small teardrop trailer doing running and Mtb races.
Her 16yo son and i installed a set of steel RCI skidplates this week. Four plates covering engine, tranny, and transfer case. I am super impressed. Maybe RCI will gear up and make a version for our 17+ SuperDuty trucks?

The transfer case shield is relatively cheap. HC3Z-7E063-A

https://www.tascaparts.com/oem-parts...te-hc3z7e063a/

The gas tank shield parts, not so much.

(Note - this is an example as the gas tank shield parts change based on tank size.)

Both are made of steel. (Magnet sticks)

I’ve looked for aftermarket and other than the SuperDutySkidPlate for big $$$, which although nice, it’s just too expensive.
I almost ordered just the transfer case skid plate online but then looked up the mounting bolts/nuts and they were more than the skid plate as well as back ordered.
If anybody finds a cheaper aftermarket source, please post up!
