Skid plates?

Thinking about throwing this option when I order my truck, but I don't know much about it.

How many "plates" are there, and where are they located? Is this worth it? I don't plan on going off-road much...

Anybody have pictures of theirs?

Thanks!

For $160.00 it's worth while. I added mine even though I don't plan any serious off road, but you never know what is in that mud pit you have to pass through.

There are 2 Steel "Skid Plates" and 1 Gas tank guard. There is a Steel Skid Plate under the engine/crossmember with access holes for chaging oil etc, another Skid Plate under the transfer case and crossmember. There is also a flexible "composite" (plastic?) protector for the gas tank. If you go to dealer and manage to avoid the sales folks, you can swipe a F-150 flyer/pamphlet (book really) which has pictures of the skid plates.

I would recommend them if you're anywhere on dirt or gravel roads. Flying rocks will put holes in stuff.
