This would be my number 1 suspect as well. Especially since you just mentioned that it "usually breaks loose".

Gonna try the hairspray technique with that boot, hit a snag when my turbo to pedestal o ring decided to not work and leaked 2 gallons of oil out. Should have it running by this afternoon
No need to use hairspray, just use a healthy amount of brake cleaner on the boot and pipe/spider surfaces and secure the clamps with a confident amount of force. They will hold, if they are not slippery and have been cleaned appropriately.
Got a video of the exhaust back pressure acting weird. It’ll bounce between 5-8 psi constant throttle, flat highway. The truck can make backpressure when I floor it but it will act funny at constant speed.
It was bouncing between 6-7, I see that as it being around 6.5, no biggie.
Nah it was between 5-8 I couldn’t get a full video. Truck will make plenty of back pressure when I’m in 2nd gear. But when I’m in 5th on the highway cruising at 65 and try to pass someone it’ll be very laggy and the back pressure will be at 10 and boost will be at 10. I don’t think with my set up the ratio should be 1:1
So a friend of mine who knows a lot more about 7.3s than I do, said to disconnect my MAP sensor from the rubber hose and clamp it for a test drive. Took it for a drive and it seemed to run better, but the weird thing is there was no check engine light, soft or hard code. Is that normal for a “good” MAP? I do have a hydra and custom tunes on it.
