Wiper “park” point

is there a way to either set the “parking” point for my wipers or get them to park in the “running position so I can set the new wiper arms in place? I am replacing the old and now rusted arms with new and these don’t seem to sit as low as the other two that I had originally on the truck.

The drives on the arms should be splined and you can adjust them as necessary. To get them to stop in any other position I believe that you'll have to disconnect the batteries when they hit the spot you want them stopped in.

If your replacing the arms, Remove both, Leave the wipers in the parked position. Replace the new arms in the position your comfortable with. The splined head on the drives don't care what position you set them in. Push on and click.

Speaking of wipers, with winter not to far in the distance, i remember a thread years back where members were installing bigger blades in which, the wipers then would clean thee entire damn windshield.

I think the stock length is 20" for the blades and they are definitely a little short to clean the whole 'shield.

I'm currently running 22" blades. They clean plenty for me as they cut an additional 2" swath on each side.

I tried 24" but didn't like them. Yes, they cleaned darn near the whole windshield but when they are parked the driver's side hangs way over the curve. Not too big a deal but that is stress point on the blade and (I think) contributed to the accelerated wear on the driver's side on my truck.

The 22" blade hangs over just a little but not bad and haven't had any problems with it so that's my happy medium.

I currently use the Bosch Icon 22" blade on both sides and am very happy with them. I get at least 2 years out of each set.

Just my .02

I've been running 24" Bosch Icons on both sides for nearly 12 years. I normally only tolerate wipers for a year because I always seems to get a tiny "notch" in a blade and I simply cannot stand the streak it creates. So, yes, I've gone through probably 10-12 pair of blades.

Yes, my PS blade hangs out a little past the windshield curve when parked, but I've not seen any detrimental effect on the blade tip's ability to keep the entire wipe area clean. I wish that blade would rest on the glass at the tip, but just because I'm **** about some details. Regardless, like I said, that little "feature" of running a 24" blade on the PS has not shown to create any unbalanced wear on the blade. Besides, if that is the only concern, you can always run a 24" on the DS and a 22" on the PS.

That's a good point, I have not used 24" with the Bosch Icons. I settled on 22" a long time ago and have never looked back.

I could do the 22"/24" thing but, regardless of improvement, it would bother me as I am also **** about details too.

That's exactly what has kept me from running the 22"/24" combination... my "bother point" is less with the blade overhang than it would be for the different wipe radius'... I think.

I don't know, though... Now that I actually think it through again, I need to get another pair right now and I might just try the 22/24 approach to see if it really does bother me.
