wiper problem

This is my problem, my wipers ( 65 ) two speed, when running, jam at the extreme left of the windshield and I have to push them back. Now I can see why but can't figure out how to correct this. It seems they go too far over and go beyond the return point and jam when the arm that is connected to the motor is extended straight out. Adjusting the outer wiper arm's does not do anything. Any thoughts guys? I bought a new wiper motor thinking it was that but no. Have to drive her 800 miles soon and hope too have this resolved. If you guys don't know then I'm toast.

When the wipers are off, what position are the wipers in? Are they laying all the way to the right?

I have had this problem, a common one with these trucks.
It's most likely a worn pivot .. the part that runs thu the cowl that the wiper arms attach to.

Your best bet? Buy new ones from Carpenter. Get a new set of internal arms while you are ordering

I have had my Uni's wipers apart so many times, I can literally do it with my eyes closed. Don't waste your time with used parts, as you never know the condition of them either.
Buy new and save the ability to take wipers apart in your sleep.

I was wondering; when reviewing this thrend; I replaced my wipers bezels with new ones, during my restoration (could I've tighten the bezel nuts) down too tight and cause your pivot arms the not to turn. Its seems weird that everythings works on my truck since my rebuild except the wipers?? They were push down into the cowl during paint & body work.
Sorry to ask on this thrend but; now's better than never.

The bezel nuts are seperate from the internal workings of the pivots, so I think no matter how tight you got them they would not affect the workings of the pivots themselves. the nuts tighten down on the outer sleeve, the pivot runs inside them.

I would suggest to you that if you left them in place during paint and body work, that it is more likely you got some dust or other gunk in between the pivot and the sleeve that is seizing them up.

At least that would be my guess.

i feel the same as you suggest there Ringo; going to try and clean out the pivot area and see if it makes a difference.
Thanks, I'm just use to tightening stuff alittle more than needed and something to go bad.

The transmission arms are different lengths. You or someone else may have mixed them up.

When I had my pivots out I drilled and tapped them and installed zerk fittings so that I could grease them from under the dash.

No, they do not slow down. They're quieter, too.
