I have a '34 P/U street rod, stock front suspension, 350 engine.
The front shocks are worn out and hammer.
The distance between mount holes is 11".
Who makes a quality replacement and what do I ask for?
Thank you, Bern.
I am not sure what is on there now is the correct part. It looks like the shocks may be bottoming. So let me re-ask my question.
When the vehicle is sitting. should the shock be set right in the middle of its compressed and extended distance?
"When the vehicle is sitting. should the shock be set right in the middle of its compressed and extended distance?"
Ideally the shock should be in the center of it's stroke at the vehicles typical ride height. It can be a bit variable plus or minus providing the shock will still have enough stroke for the suspension travel before reaching the end.
not very often that wheels come of the ground . on a hoist when you replace shocks the axle needs to be supported, as its travels down further then the shock goes. i would think half way is ideal , or a bit more compressing than extension would be ok.
