Measuring for shocks

I'd take a measurement between the shock mounts at full suspension droop and at full stuff. The full stuff measurement is tough to get, so calculate what it would be if the suspension bottomed out on the bump stops. Take your time with these measurements so that you know that they are correct.
Once you have these measurements, go to a manufacturer's spec sheet for shocks and choose one that has the extension and compression that you need.
