I’m installing a top loader in my 69 F100. It came with a shifter on it but I’m not liking the location of it. I modified it to work but you can see I’m stuck with the seat in the all the way back position. Does anyone know of a different mounting kit that will place it about 6” forward?
That looks like a mid mount tailhousing, so you won't find anything factory to change it. In my trucks, I made my own mounting plate and shift rods to fit. Though I always had bucket seats so hitting the bench was never an issue.
Yes, Hurst makes a bunch of handles, so you can buy one with a curve in it if you don't want to customize your own.
If that transmission is a close ratio model and you do not have 4.11 gears you will be really disappointed. I went through that many years ago. Hopefully your transmission is the wide ratio model. I finally was able to get a wide ratio model that worked out perfect from a 66 Mustang. I just needed a longer speedometer cable with the correct plastic gear. As far as a shift handle like already said there are many versions. If you can weld it is not hard to fabricate a forward looking extension for seat clearance.
Close ratio 1st gear 2.32. Wide ratio 1st gear 2.78
I've always ran wide ratio boxes in all my stuff. The first gear in a close ratio box is not good if you don't have steep gears out back. It's like starting out in 2nd gear.
Big inputs were ALL close ratio. Small inputs came either way. You can buy an aftermarket big input to convert a small input wide ratio.
I’m pretty sure it’s a wide ratio. Bought it a while ago and forgot the specs on it. I will check the tag when I get home. I have 3.70 in the rear now so hope fully either one will be decent. I moved the shift handle more upright and extended it to make it work for me. Maybe I will just leave it and let the next guy make it how he wants.

Wide ratio out of a Fairlane. Should be cool with some 3.70 gears.

If you had longer shift rods that would position the shift lever more forward in the whole "H" pattern. Or you might be able to adjust the shift levers on the side of the tranny more rear-ward using the same rods. Depends on if you are using factory Ford shift levers or the ones that prolly came with that shifter.
If you have these universal shift levers try different hole to make them point more towards the rear.
If you have this style then try flipping them the other way.
Only problem Jeff, you need to rotate the whole shifter forward. I used to cobble mine together in my trucks from misc parts I bought at swap meets and build my own rods. I made my own plates and mounted the whole thing forward.
If you try to just lengthen the rods, then the neutral gate gets out of position and that can cause its own problems. Those mounting plates only have one position, straight up basically, but if you drill another small hole(I think 3/8" or 5/16") for the small mounting bolt you can rotate it but it might be too much
Friend with '70 Mustang had Hurst custom make him a plate that basically rotated it back to keep him from bashing the dash on a 3rd gear powershift. This was a V gate shifter, not an H pattern.
I used a 2”X3/8” flat stock about 7” long to locate the straight Hurst handle for the T45 in my 67 XL toward the rear. It comes right up through the console where the auto handle was then covered it with a shift boot and plate. He could do the same thing going toward the front.
