i just got a 2003 f250 with 5.4 motor. It’s going to be a project truck. For now I’m looking for cheap ways to add power. What most efficient way? I already ordered k&n intake, exhaust and a superchip programmer
I dont want to be "that guy" but the only thing to wake up a 5.4 on a Super duty are gears something in the neighborhood of 4.30, 4.56 or 4.88 you will get that snaping neck sensation on take off and while towing you will love it, also other noticible power adders are Y pipe mod, and custom tunes from 5 star.
the stock intake is sufficient on our trucks as well as the stock exhaust. I would of passed on those.
As said above lower gears are the best mod you can do to a gas truck or suv to get better performance, lower gears don't give you more power, but they increase torque multiplication and allow you to get into your powerband quicker.
Thanks! The intake and exhaust came in. There is a bit more power on truck but the sound difference is awesome. I’m looking into gears in the next week or 2. I do a good amount of highway driving, as this is my daily driver. What gears do you recommend that will give me that head snap but also not affect highway driving that much?

4.56 or 4.88s, on the highway you will be at a lower rpm with 4.56 but 4.88 will give you more torque. If it was me I would go with the 4.88s that would put you at 2400 rpm at 70 mph.
