I am just returning to the forum after a long 3 year absense and I am just wanting some opinions on how to increase some of the power and speed my truck has lost over the years.
I have a 2003 4.6L f150 4x4 with flowmaster cat-back exhaust, a k&n intake and some other fancy appearance bells and whistles, but I am just not happy with performance. I have toyed with the idea of buying a new truck, but this was my first car and I kind of have an obsession with it. I did add some 285/75/r16 which slowed her down a good bit (new gears maybe? I have 3.55), but just recently it has lost a lot of its giddy-up. Any suggestions I am open to anything from maybe parting ways with her or strappin a super charger on her, but the cheaper the better.
New gears will defintely benefit it for sure depends on how big the new tures are but i would say 4.10 4.30 or if they are huge 4.56 supercharger would help also you got exhaust now cold air intake and chip or programmer like edge hypertech etc would help or tahts what i hear welcome back
i guess it boils down to how much money and time do you want to invest in it. a tuner will give you better throttle response and a little more hp/tq. gears are always a nice choice. a motor swap is a nice way to get that lacking power, although not always for the novice to do
superchargin it would be my last choice if you are a novice. there are many problems that could go potentially wrong if you are unsure what you are doing.
I agree, I would start with a tune-up. New plugs, PCV valve, Fuel filter and a tranny flush. I would also clean the MAF. It probably has an oily residue from the K&N filter by now.
