Here is my problem with the Maxlife DEX/MERC. It does not have a license for any of the specs that it claims it meets. It says that it is for MERCON, MERCON V, MERCON SP, and MERCON LV. But it doesn't have a license from Ford to advertise any of those specs on their container. So does it meet the specs? Valvoline might know, but nobody else does. If it had a license Ford would have tested the fluid and been sure that it met the specs.
I'll be danged, Mark. I did not notice that on the newer bottles of Valvoline fluids.. I did not use the Maxlife, but I bought the cases of Valvoline Mercon V so long ago that they Say 'MERCON V", not like the newer labels that say "For Mercon V applications". There is a dot matrix license code on the bottom of the bottle. I see they lost or let go of their license later.
Here is a pic of one of the bottles I just used:
I also see the Walmart Supertech IS approved and has the code on it. Go figure.
Gotta love some things about Amazon. They keep the order details for everything going back years. Found when I bought the Valvoline. Dec 28,2011. 8 cases of 12 at $70.23 a case. ATF is a lot more expensive now.
