I'll do a write up for that. It looks like this now.....

The frame broke, so it's getting a new frame

I'll post pictures of the cab being done when I get home.
The answer to your question is yes. Way less heat in summer, way less noise.
Especially after I did the doors

Sweet a 4.9 truck too!

Ideal time to do the late HVAC box for a larger evap!

I love that 4.9. What a great motor!

That looks similar to what is in my truck. It did a nice job on noise. I never felt like I had temp issues so I didn’t necessarily notice a difference. My install was not quite as clean as skuzzy’s. My doors are done the same way. I think some adhesive backed stuff on the doorskin itself would be a little better.

I was was kind of bummed to see the precut stuff did not come for a crew cab.

That's the plan. The truck that donated the frame was a 94 4x2. That means it gets 134a right off the bat. This truck still had 12 in it. I may or may not have other ones with 12 in them. not at liberty to say. LOL

The plan is to use the OBS system complete down to the ***** in the dash. I am moving them lower, then making the area where the normal heat controls are with the radio to be a din radio. Not sure how well it will work. I have 5 dash pieces to play with.....

Oh, and that 4.9 has rolled 500260. Only had to change fuel injectors, valve cover gasket, and a bunch of clutches.
I think the oil on the outside just started accumulating in the last 50,000 miles. Looks like the lifter covers rusted out.
She will be rebuilt too.
I won't post anymore pictures in your build thread unless it helps you with your build, sorry for hyjacking your thread

Oh ****, you did roof too! Must help a ton. I did ceramic window film, I can tell it keeps cabin cooler...wish I did 5% in back versus 20%, too late now! Middle of summer here in Houston I can now run blower on medium high versus high when on the road. My system is fine, it just cannot pull the heat out fast enough stock...now it can. I will do same on my Brick, got a pal coming to help me time it and light that SOB off post flood. 100% doing to do a driveway burnout with open headers. Yep, has 4.10:1 gears now, Eaton LSD. I will kill the AOD in process if needed for that!

My Brick is a 05/88 I think (lame triple fuel pump stuff) so I have the crap FS6 compressor. My pal has the FS10 on his 11/88? build, but bolts up same...at least I have a Saginaw PS pump and he has that poopy C2! Jarrett is hooking me up with a '97 or '96 HVAC box for the Brick (he is getting big manly tow mirrors for his '76 in exchange), VERY excited to have the larger evap in the truck. The '94+ condenser drops in easy, but the outlet is a No 6 on R134A versus the R12 trucks No 8 as I remember. Buy new liquid line, snip off end, install a No 6 out to No 8 hose step fitting. Easy...if keeping the OE box.

Before I bought the dually, I looked all over creation for a nice 4.9/M5OD truck... could not find one at all. I would have accepted a regular cab even for temporary. Found the dually, and that is how the story went. Now you guys get to know me.

Is that 4.9 truck an F-250 or F-150?

I am using the whole a/c out of the 94 because when I ordered the truck they boo boo'd and forgot the a/c, and put in dealer installed. I's hose clamp hoses, and scotch lock wires just slammed in there.
The harness between the brick and the obs is a whole different mess, but I have it figured out. I have 4 other OBS to guide me. The other brick is still doing fine, so eve though I replaced the compressor with the more modern one, I kept it 12. No way to flush all the mineral oil from the system, and pag oil don't mix well, so It's fine. I like you have a "stock" to keep it going

I orderd that truck, build date 11/88 delivered 12/23/88 titled 89.
It's a f 350 4.9 zf5 4.88 gears. limited slip both ends. it will go sideways in a straight line before it gets stuck. LOL. If you get it stuck with mud tires on, better have something with tracks to pull it out

Epic thread! Thinking about buying a similar truck and this is a pretty damn good plan to follow!

That material I laid out has helped insulate the cabin. Sound is sill about the same...again, 2500rpm @ 70mph is most of that. Clutch in and there seems to be less road noise, I am sure would be better with fresh window and door seals.

$400 for that selector hurts.
