2001 f250 and i can't connect to my obd connection with a scanner. truck won't start with scanner connected either. when you try to connect with truck running it shuts off. any help would be much apreciated.
What scanner? Most regular scanners can't read codes on our trucks anyway. They use a different protocol to later stuff. You either need a quality bluetooth module & Forscan or Torque pro (Forscan is better for diagnostics) or maybe someone in your area has this or AE?

I use the OBD2MX, it's not a cheap option, but it works, I initially tried a cheap Chinese cloned device & it did work but with very limited functionality.
For android and PC devices you can get a bluetooth adapter, if you use iProducts you'll need a WIFI adapter. I use iProducts and have a VeePeak WIFI adapter from Amazon for around $15.00, it also connects to my laptop.
Link in my signature for Torque Pro faq also a good read if your relatively “new” to the obscure and these trucks, of links don’t show I will repost when I get home
