Torque ap beginner questions.

I am not a computer junky so talk slow to me.

Since it looks like Torque does not work with a PC, what do I need, to use Torque for a OBS PSD??? Lets start with no smart phone.

Can I use it with a Kindle Fire?? Has anyone done this since a KF is kind of an Android operating system??

Or is there a cheap, reasonably durable pad that would work?? I hate to buy one just to find it won't work for what I need.

I have a WIFI scan tool. Will that work???

Then what Torque software do I need??? Standard?? Pro?? Add ons???

The talk of all the PIDs. Way over my head. Do I need to use them to scan and monitor the OBS PSD??

Thanks for any help.

If you can access the Google play store from your Kindle fire it should work.

You may need to alter some PIDs so the app can correctly monitor certain parameters. But you don't need to change any to scan for codes.

We were just playing on my sons phone with Torque Lite. No codes. Do you need to use a plug in for the OBS PSD??? Do you need Pro to get it to work???

I bought the pro version a few years ago because at the time the diesel pids were not included in the lite version.

If you go to the torque web site they have a pretty good rundown of the type of reader you need. I have a cheap $25 Bluetooth reader the works great for me. Since the app is only $5 all in all a pretty cheap and flexible reader.

Once you have the default app working with a reader then you can start looking at extended pids mentioned in other threads.

Good luck.

Well I got a 7", Android tablet from Tiger Direct. They had it on sale for 49$ with a $20 rebate and free shipping. I had to drop my wife off at a seminar out of town so I got to mess with it for a couple hours. It took me a while to figure it out. I got the Torque pro version and with some head scratching figured it out. The OBD II adapter I got quite a while back was a WIFI not a Bluetooth. It does work with either. You need to configure the tablet to the OBD II WIFI and then run Torque. Then it runs the same.
