My remote start quit working.

I have a 2015 Ford F350, 4X4, Diesel. I went out this morning, like I usually do, I hit the lock and then I pressed the 2x two times. The horn beeped once, but the truck would not start. I tried both remotes.

Welcome to FTE! Is your check engine light on? Thought that the remote start would stop working if the truck had a check engine light on.

Clear any DTC's and then try it. As Bruce said, remote start will not work if there is a code and CEL is lit.

hey mine has done that about 3 times in 4 years for no apparent reason, start it with the key and next time you shut it off and try it it should work fine, assuming there are no codes

I think if you don't turn it off under ideal conditions, like being in park when it's shut off, then it won't remote start the next time.

Also, a bad good switch can prevent it from starting too. Yours might be dirty or might've gone bad.

The other thing you can try is to turn remote start off, start the truck with the key, then go back in and enable it again. That should clear the issue. Now as others have posted, if you have a code or warning it will happen again. Making the assumption that the hood is closed. If there are no codes or warnings might be the "hood closed" sensor.
