None of them should be $300. Not trying to make you feel bad, just trying to help with the $$'s.
It is not a REAL common thing IMO, but unfortunately a number of people have been down the "bad pump" road before.
Edit - I just looked up Advance Auto's and Autozone's Delphi pump - $270. That is crazy expensive. I had no idea that they were that high for the pump alone.
Before i got the adapter, I could only confirm the pump was operating ny heating it. 52 psi today was confirmed with several koeo and each time I watched it drop back to 0. I don't have a hose big enough, I thought I did, but my brother put his finger over the fuel inlet onthe pump and felt the weak suction. There is more nothing registering on pressure tester.
It is not unusual for the pressure to drop back to zero immediately when the key is turned off. It was the low initial pressure (53) that was the main problem w/ the original pump. It can jeopardize expensive injectors. Plus, the gurgling noise mystery needs to be solved I would think.
As Jack posted, that is normal. The PCM is timing out and the pump shuts off when it does, Pressure dropping to zero when pump shuts down is normal also.
Going back to pumping out of a bucket .... What size hose did you use and was it a sturdy "fuel line" hose, or a very soft wall plastic hose. If it is a small diameter clear plastic (soft wall) hose, it may be collapsing and shutting off. Also, could you confirm that it is running when 0, or that it is shutting off electrically prematurely.
I thought I had a hose but I didn't, so I wasn't able to do that test. I can hear the pump running and it's running for normal time. The pump itself is making a louder than normal sound. It's not the usual quiet hum.
