I have a late 99 F350 7.3 4x4 and recently had a front pump seal failure on my trans. We pulled the trans and discovered the front pump bushing was slightly worn and left some light marks on the TC hub. So we removed the front pump, replaced the bushing and seal, reinstalled with a new TC & filter, etc... Got it all back together and have codes P0715 & P0717. Scan tool data shows 0 on TSS and accurate info on OSS & VS PIDSI swapped the TSS & OSS and the issue didn't change. I verified the wiring to the PCM as well. I removed the TSS and used a mirror to look in the hole while cranking the engine and noticed the coast clutch drum did not move. I am an experienced tech of over 20 yrs and was a shop owner for 10 of those yrs. I am just not very familiar with juice boxes. So I don't know if this is supposed to spin at all times or only under certain conditions. I need to figure this out asap so I can return my girlfriends Silverado and get back in my own truck before I get too bad of a rash from the Chevy! Any advice short of a full replacement or overhaul would be greatly appreciated.
You want Mark Kovalsky to chime in on this thread. Sorry, that's the best help I can give, but Mark is a retired engineer that worked on the 4R100. It won't get much better.
Friday on the way to a shop it acted normal. I pulled it anyway just to dbl check everything. All looked good, put it back in and 100 miles later its still good. No clue what the deal was.
I checked it multiple times while having the fault. Even checked sensor resistance at the PCM connector. Whatever the issue was, appears gone for now. Thanks for the replies though guys.
