My XLT with the value package was $45k and some change. Sounds like you are looking at a diesel vs my gasser.
I fully understand not paying for options you don't want. Although if you are any bit concerned with resale or trade-in value down the line, I would suggest the base XLT...only because I am going through that right now with my highly-optioned base model Ram. I've even added OEM options to basically make it a couple steps away from a Laramie trim...but the dealers don't care.

Best of luck!
Makes sense to me. Yea, dealers are all about what it looks like on paper, that's why I have to "order" a truck because they don't spec them to make sense, just as long as they look good. My build.....F-250 XLT, Supercab, 148" w/b, 6.2 Gasser, Magnetic, Snowplow/Camper Package, Tailgate Step, 5th Wheel Prep, Skid Plates, Medium Duty Battery, Rear CHMSL Camera, Led Roof Marker Lights, Led Box Lighting, 3.73 E-Locking Axle, LT275/70Rx18E BSW A/T, Carpet Delete, Manual Shift on the Fly, 110v/400w inverter, Upfitter Switches, 40/20/40 bench seat..... Plus the XLT Standard Equipment...... How about that?...... $46,800 MSRP
Idk, my f150 STX doesn't have the number pad on driver door, carpet, auto dim mirrors, rear camera, power driver seat. Don't know if those are standard on the xlt.

I have a VERY similar truck. I didn't get the items I bolded in your post.... but did get BLIS, Sync 3, remote start, power sliding rear window, engine block heater, wheel well liners, and a Moon Roof. $48,500 msrp
I am very happy with my 17 STX. It came with the ultimate trailer package, which (I think) includes the brake controller, 5 cameras, and bigger screen. Price was $37,200. There is nothing I "wish" I had, with the (possible) exception of electric folding mirrors. Not sure if XLT gives you that or not.

I considered this before I ordered. You can order a XLT with power mirrors and camera package - but no value package, so no fogs or power seats.
Seems like a pretty rare combo... I've never seen one optioned like that.
I really don't think Ford is trying to rip any one off with these packages its just the problem of having a million packages...
As in, there might be $980 difference in the exact same truck that OP built, but ford counts up all the standard xlt options - better cloth seats, sync, sirius XM, cd player, trailer brake, carpet mats, boxlink, trailer brake, privacy glass, 110v and thinks that $980 is a really good value.
But in OP's eyes, he doesn't consider those cloth seats any different, and he wants aftermarket mats, and doesn't care about box link, and maybe other XL packages he added includes a "free" trailer brake, 110v, and sync/cd/xm.
