Tuning without delete
Hey all. I am new to the site and to diesels. I have been an auto damage estimator for auto body shops for over 10 years and have been into cars my whole life so I'm not an automotive rookie. I was mostly into Mustangs. I've had 6 of them. Anyways, I would like to possibly ture my 17 250 6.7. I just moved to Cali almost a year ago and its a bit of a shock how strict the automobile rules are here after living in "anything goes" Florida for 5 years. I understand the concern. However, I would like to tune my truck. I have no plans to mess with the emissions equipment as long as I live in this state. I don't really need too much. I would love better throttle and transmission response and maybe a little more hp/tq with the ability to add more as I get bored. I know nobody sells in or ships tuners to CA but Ican get around that. What would be my best option for a tuner and what type of power gains are possible without deleting?

I won't speak to the EPA or left coast sniff-test issues, but the data loggers built into these trucks will inform a servicing dealer about any non-OEM "tuning" that has occurred, and that will void a good portion of your warranty. If you're confident you'll never need any dealer service before your warranty expires, then carry on.
